HSBC and REITAS jointly organised a webinar on “Investing in the Greening of the Real Estate Sector”.

Panellists will be discussing the relevance of ESG metrics, how real estate operators are engaging with tenants on emissions, minimum requirements for a sustainability linked deal, how much focus is on the impact on projects as compared to labelling/certification etc. The panel comprises of two investors and two REIT representatives and will be hosted by Max Thomas of HSBC’s ESG Solutions.

The deadline to receive nominations for the 2022-24 REITAS Exco was 12pm on Friday 6 May. We are pleased to inform you that we have received nine nomination forms as follows:

REITs Symposium 2022, jointly organized by ShareInvestor, Investing Note and REITAS, was a MEGA-Hybrid event, held at Suntec Exhibition Hall on 21 May and broadcasted LIVE simultaneously to online viewers.

13 REITs participated and their top management spoke and gave their insights during the event.

Nupur Joshi, REITAS CEO, moderated the panel discussion on REITs Outlook & Trends: Re-opening Optimism, Inflation, Globalization, ESG and Sustainability. The panelists were Grace Cheng, Director of Investment at Syfe; James Ooi, Market Strategist of uSMART Securities; Timothy Philips, Head of Content & Investment Lead of ProsperUs; and Victor Wong, Senior Director, Head of UOBAM Sustainability Office.

The event clocked in a total of 7,626 cumulative sessions viewed live during the event day, from interviews to panel discussions.

The course provides a comprehensive understanding of the various fund raising instruments available to a REIT, including a session on sustainable finance. The course will also cover key regulatory considerations when raising funds and 2 case studies by Lendlease Global Commercial Trust and Ascendas India Trust.

We are excited to announce that our refreshed & updated Online Rules & Ethics Course for 2022 is now open for registration!

Similar to last year, the course is designed such that you can work through the different modules at your own pace and time. CMS licensees will be awarded 6 core SFA CPD hours on successful completion of your selected 6 modules.

We have a total of 11 modules on offer this year which includes one brand new module (on Tax) and two expanded modules (on Environment Risk Management and Technology Risk Management, Outsourcing Management & Business Continuity Management). This is in addition to updated and refreshed modules from last year.

IBF subsidy is available. Please register by 30 June as the current subsidy rates are only valid if you register before 30 June and complete by 30 September. IBF is likely to revise (potentially reduce) the subsidy rates thereafter.

As a gentle reminder, all Capital Market Service (CMS) licensees are required to complete 9 CPD hours every calendar year, of which 6 hours have to be on Rules & Ethics. However, do note that the course is not limited to CMS licensees and can be useful for anyone involved in the S-REIT sector.
